Senior Clinical Perfusion Scientist at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
Appointed to the College Council in November 2024.
I specialise in all aspects of Adult and Paediatric Clinical Perfusion Practice, with a special interest in complex Thoraco-abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Surgery and Paediatric ECMO. In 2022, I became an examiner for the Society's Accreditation Exams, which has been an insightful experience, providing the opportunity to observe perfusion practice in different centres across the UK.
I began my Clinical Perfusion Scientist training at Harefield Hospital in 2012, following completion of a BSc Honours degree in Medical Science at the University of Glamorgan. Harefield Hospital was an exciting place to train with exposure to ECMO, VADs, heart and lung transplantation, and organ retrieval.
I later joined Southampton Hospital in 2018, as I aspired to develop my skills in Paediatric Perfusion. Since joining the team at Southampton Hospital, I have become the Lead ECMO Representative, striving to continue to improve the ECMO training programme and building relationships across multi-disciplinary teams.
As an enthusiastic hiker and cyclist, I have supported numerous charity events for the British Heart Foundation, keen to encourage continuous lifesaving research; improving the lives of many.
