Laura was elected to the Society’s Executive during the SCPS AGM 2022. Currently, Laura sits on the ECMO, Meetings and Seminars, and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion subcommittees.
Laura is experienced in all aspects of clinical perfusion for adults and has recently started her career in paediatric perfusion practice. She holds interests in complex aortic surgery, ventricular assist devices and the use of simulation to improve perfusion practice. She is also very interested in research and hopes to undertake a PhD in paediatric perfusion in the future.
Laura graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 2014 with a BSc Honours in Reproductive Biology. After working in a microbiology laboratory, Laura secured a trainee perfusion post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in 2015. After accrediting in 2017, Laura gained experience in a range of perfusion techniques including ECMO, minimally invasive procedures and thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysms. Since April 2022, Laura has been working at Great Ormond Street Hospital learning paediatric perfusion techniques.
